About PointOne
We’re building an AI system to automate timekeeping and firm intelligence for law firms, starting with timekeeping and billing. The business of law is rapidly changing in response to AI. We’re using our entry wedge — and the rich data stream it generates — to help firms transition their businesses into the AI era.
Our team is a mix of legal, AI, and startup backgrounds from Fenwick & West, Applied Intuition, and Google. We recently raised a seed round from Y Combinator, Bessemer, 8VC, General Catalyst, and several of our early customers (who asked to invest after using the product).
We are getting strong pull from the market and can’t keep up with the volume of customer demands — this is where you come in.
Who You Are
You have 5+ years of experience in solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical customer-facing roles at a fast-paced B2B SaaS company.
You have:
A strong foundation in web technologies (APIs, authentication flows, integrations)
The ability to navigate conversations with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience running discovery, scoping requirements, and delivering tailored demos
A product mindset and an instinct for translating customer pain into technical solutions
Comfort digging into customer data or systems to troubleshoot or prototype integrations
A track record of helping close complex deals and accelerating onboarding
A bias for action and the ability to operate independently in a high-trust environment
Excitement to work in-person with the founding team at an early-stage startup
What You’ll Do
You’ll be the technical voice of PointOne for prospective and existing customers. You’ll work closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to ensure customers understand the power of the platform and see value from day one.
To accomplish this, you will:
Own the technical relationship with prospects during evaluation and early implementation
Run discovery sessions and collaborate on tailored deployment plans
Deliver high-impact demos, pilots, and proofs of concept
Answer technical questions around architecture, integration, and security
Help configure initial customer environments and assist with early data flows
Build reusable tools and materials to accelerate future implementations
Collaborate with product and engineering to shape feature priorities
Serve as a feedback loop — capturing patterns, blockers, and opportunities from the field
This is going to be intense early-stage startup work. The person we hire will help define what “Solutions Engineering” means at PointOne — and help build the function from the ground up.
Day in the Life
As our first Solutions Engineer, you’ll be bouncing between strategy and hands-on problem solving. Here’s what a day might look like:
11:00 AM. Join a pre-sales call with a prospective firm that’s skeptical about capturing time on mobile. You walk them through a tailored demo and show them how one of our top customers solved the same concern.
12:30 PM. Meet with an AE and Product to design a custom pilot flow for a multi-office firm with unique practice group needs.
2:00 PM. Use Postman to validate an Office365 integration request from a customer’s IT team. You tweak the config and document the steps for future setups.
3:30 PM. Lead a working session with a firm’s operations lead to connect their timekeeping data to their internal reporting dashboard using our API.
5:00 PM. Sync with engineering to test and QA a new firm-specific export feature before deploying to their sandbox.
6:45 PM. Send a follow-up email to a prospect from earlier in the day, summarizing what you learned and suggesting an implementation path tailored to their workflow.
7:15 PM. Over dinner with the team, chat about how to evolve the onboarding experience to support larger rollouts and multi-region firms.
