PointOne vs. Billables
Which Should You Choose?
What are PointOne and Billables?
PointOne and Billables are AI-powered time tracking applications for lawyers. Both systems capture data from a variety of places that lawyers work and use AI to generate time entries. But they differ in terms of the devices they support, the amount of detail they collect and the quality of the time entries they generate.
Why PointOne significantly outperforms Billables
Billables is a helpful system for people just discovering AI time tracking. But users who switch from Billables to PointOne consistently say that PointOne is a more complete, accurate and helpful system.
The two applications take different approaches. PointOne works primarily using a desktop interface on Windows and MacOS, which lets the system track every task and action in your local desktop environment. This means that no matter what apps you work in, PointOne can understand what you're doing and generate accurate time entries.
In contrast, Billables works through a web application and relies on specific point integrations like email, calendar, and Word to understand what you're doing. This captures less detail and nuance, reducing the accuracy of the system. It also means that Billables can only capture work from a limited set of applications, and is not flexible enough to capture work outside those applications.
For example, when a lawyer is multi-tasking across dozens of emails and documents, PointOne's desktop application can understand how much time was spent focusing on each one. Billables, on the other hand, can only pick up specific actions that are captured by their integrations (like sending an email or opening a document).
Supported devices
PointOne is available on all of your devices: desktop, mobile, and web. Billables is available only through a web app.
Data captured
PointOne tracks the desktop on Windows and Mac, capturing significantly more detail. Billables is limited to specific point integrations.
Time entries
PointOne is significantly more accurate at assigning work to matters and generates realistic narratives that sound like a human. In contrast, Billables produces rigid, generic time entries.
Why legal professionals are choosing PointOne over the competition
"After trying just about every other time tracking on the market, I’m convinced PointOne is a game changer for attorneys. Its ability to draft accurate time entries in my own voice makes this a critical tool for my practice."

"PointOne consistently delivers value while many other legal tech tools lose their appeal over time. Timekeeping is one of the aspects I dislike most about practicing law. PointOne makes the limitations of the billable hour system less painful.
